Let’s talk water

Let’s talk water

Is your Investment Property water efficient?

Tenants can only be charged for all water consumption if:

- the property is individually metered (or water is delivered by vehicle), and

- the property is water efficient, and

- the tenancy agreement states the tenant must pay for water consumption

If you are planning to rent a property to a tenant or already are, you have many things to consider as a landlord.

One very important thing is to ensure that you have the ability to pass on the costs of water consumption on to the tenant.

The easiest way to achieve this is to get in touch with a licensed plumber and work with them to obtain a Water Efficiency Certificate.

A Water Efficiency Certificate ensures your property is compliant with the regulations and guidelines as set out by the Queensland Residential Tenancies Authority.
